The Extraction Kit — Precision Retrieval for Lost Equipment in Groundwater Monitoring Wells
The Extraction Kit was engineered to solve a problem that has plagued environmental field teams, well drillers, and groundwater professionals for decades — equipment lost or stuck in a monitoring well with no reliable way to get it back.
Whether your team has lost a bladder pump, bailer, transducer, level logger, PVC pipe, or any other downhole device in a 2 inch, 4 inch, or 6 inch monitoring or remediation well, the Extraction Kit gives you a fast, precise, and damage-free path to retrieval. The integrated HD inspection camera lets your operator see exactly what is in the well and where before any retrieval attempt is made — then the patented lock-off grabber head secures the object and pulls it to the surface intact.
Below you will find real workshop demonstrations of the Extraction Kit recovering common lost equipment types, a full comparison of available editions, and everything you need to get a quote for your specific situation.
The first fully patented system combining live HD camera inspection with lock-off retrieval technology — purpose-built for 2, 4, and 6 inch well casings.
No safety line? No problem.
One of the most common and challenging lost equipment scenarios occurs when the safety line breaks or detaches — leaving the pump, bailer, or transducer at the bottom of the well with nothing to grab onto using conventional methods. The Extraction Kit was specifically engineered for exactly this situation. The integrated inspection camera locates the object at depth and the patented grabber head locks onto it directly — no safety line needed.
The following demonstrations show the Extraction Kit retrieving common lost equipment types from 2 inch and 4 inch monitoring well casings with no safety line attached — simulating real lost equipment scenarios exactly as they occur in the field.
Bladder pumps and interval samplers — 2 inch monitoring well casing
The following demonstrations show the Extraction Kit retrieving a SOLINST 30-inch Interval Sampler Pump and a GEOTECH 18-inch Bladder Pump from a 2 inch monitoring well casing with no safety line attached. The live HD camera feed is visible on the monitor throughout each retrieval.
SOLINST 30-inch Interval Sampler Pump — 7 lbs — 2 inch monitoring well casing
GEOTECH 18-inch Bladder Pump — 3.5 lbs — 2 inch monitoring well casing
Bailers and PVC pipe — 4 inch and 2 inch monitoring well casings
A VOSS 38-inch bailer is recovered from a 4 inch groundwater monitoring well casing, followed by one of the most challenging retrieval scenarios demonstrated — 20 feet of 1-inch PVC pipe retrieved from a depth of over 120 feet in a 2 inch monitoring well casing.
VOSS 38-inch Bailer — 3 lbs — 4 inch groundwater monitoring well casing
20 feet of 1-inch PVC pipe — retrieved from 120 feet depth — 2 inch monitoring well casing
The Extraction Kit is available in three configurations to suit different well depths, project requirements, and budget considerations. The Professional edition is our standard field-ready kit available for both rent and purchase — ideal for the vast majority of 2, 4, and 6 inch monitoring well retrieval scenarios. The Ultimate and Ultimate Depth editions offer advanced camera technology and extended depth capability for more demanding projects and are available for purchase.
Download the full specification sheet for each edition below or fill out our quote request form and we will recommend the right kit for your specific situation.
The Extraction Kit — Professional and Ultimate editions
Not sure which edition is right for your project? Here is how most customers choose. The Professional edition covers the vast majority of standard groundwater monitoring well retrieval scenarios — it is available for both rent and purchase, ships from stock, and handles retrieval depths up to 165 feet in 2, 4, and 6 inch well casings. The Ultimate edition is the advanced option for teams who want enhanced camera resolution, touchscreen control, and self-leveling capability — available for purchase. The Ultimate Depth edition extends retrieval capability to 328 feet for deep monitoring wells and is built to order on purchase.
Not sure which is right for your situation? Fill out our quote request form and we will recommend the best configuration for your well depth, casing size, and lost equipment type.

The Extraction Kit is purpose-built to retrieve equipment that has been lost or become loose inside a 2 inch, 4 inch, or 6 inch groundwater monitoring well or remediation well. This includes equipment that has fallen freely to the bottom of the well, detached from its safety line, or become dislodged during sampling or well construction operations.
For equipment that is stuck or wedged under tension against the well casing, retrieval depends on the specific circumstances — in some cases the Extraction Kit can assist once the object is freed or made loose enough to retrieve. If you are unsure whether your situation is a candidate for retrieval, fill out our quote request form and describe what happened — we will give you an honest assessment before you commit to anything.
Compatible lost equipment — what the Extraction Kit retrieves
Don't see your specific equipment listed? Contact us — if it fits in a 2, 4, or 6 inch well casing there is a very good chance we can retrieve it. Every situation is assessed individually and we fabricate custom grabber heads for unusual objects and configurations.
